Labour has ‘clear commitment’ to increase female representation in Parliament

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat yesterday spoke about his government’s clear commitment to fulfil its electoral pledge to introduce measures making it easier for more women to be elected to Parliament.

Addressing participants in a programme drawn up by the Labour Party with this aim in mind, named LEAD, Muscat said one has to keep in mind those who were against such a change.

“We need to convince them because this is the best way forward,” he said. “We must arrive at a point when decisions are taken by the whole of society.”
