ŻiguŻajg Festival on the way
ŻiguŻajg has since its inception grown steadily to become a cornerstone of the national cultural calendar. The seventh edition will be showcasing no less than 25 projects with a selection of new Maltese productions as well as others by international acclaimed artists. The programme, consisting of no less than 10 creative forms, will again champion creative diversity and artistic expression. In the lead-up to the European Capital of Culture, Valletta will once again play host to hundreds of artists from no less than 12 countries. The 2017 edition is again expected to register thousand of attendees, most of whom are children and young people, who with their enthusiasm will add to the unique Festival experience. Moreover, thanks to the collaboration with the Ministry for Gozo this year the Festival will be returning to our sister island with top quality productions.
The ŻiguŻajg Festival continues to be on the forefront in fostering new generations of young artists while engaging audiences with projects of high artistic excellence. Case in point the mentoring initiatives being launched this year for commissioned artists in collaboration with Arts Council Malta will provide the foundation on which to ensure the repertoire of work for children and young people keeps developing for years to come.
All this has been made possible through the allocation of public funds and the Festival team’s efforts, headed by the Festival Director Daniel Azzopardi as well as all the collaborators involved.
