US Green Card Available through the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program (DV-2019)

-

The US Embassy is pleased to announce that registration for the US Diversity Visa Program for 2019 is now open. For 2019, 50,000 Diversity Visas (DVs) will be available across six geographic regions. US law provides for a class of immigrants known as “diversity immigrants,” from countries with historically low rates of immigration to the United States. Malta is included on this list.

A Green Card Holder is someone who has authorization to live and work in the United States on a permanent basis. In 2016, the Department of State issued 617,752 immigrant visas, otherwise known as “green cards,” up from 531,463 in 2015. Most immigrant visas are for family members of U.S. citizens or permanent residents. The DV system provides an alternative immigration route for those candidates who would not qualify for a family-based or employment-based immigrant visa.

At the conclusion of the registration period, the US Department of State will randomly select applications through a drawing. Selected applicants must meet simple but strict eligibility requirements: the principal DV applicant must have the equivalent of a US high school level education or two years of qualifying work experience.

Interested applicants should submit entries for the DV-2019 program electronically at www.dvlottery.state.gov between noon, Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) (GMT-4), Tuesday, October 3, 2017, and noon, Eastern Standard Time (EST) (GMT-5), Tuesday, November 7, 2017. There is no cost to register.

Heavy demand may result in website delays, so applicants should plan to register early. We cannot accept late entries, paper entries, or incomplete entries. The law permits only one entry by or for each person during each registration period. The Department of State uses sophisticated technology to detect multiple entries, and individuals with more than one entry will be disqualified. Fraud warning

Fraudsters may send emails claiming an applicant has won the Diversity Visa lottery. Applicants should never send money to anyone who sends a letter or email claiming that someone has won the DV lottery. Instead, application information will ONLY be available by directly accessing Entrant Status Check on the E-DV website dvlottery.state.gov.
