Make a difference to a destitute family in Syria this Christmas by giving a food parcel

-

More than six years of brutal and relentless fighting has brought death and destruction to Syria and created one of the worst humanitarian crises of our time. Half the country’s prewar population of more than 11 million people has been killed or forced to flee their homes. The war has left thousands of families inside Syria destitute, struggling to survive and in need of basic necessities, including food.

Syria may no longer feature much in the news these days, but its people continue to suffer. Eleven million have been forced from their homes, desperately seeking safety – many of them children – and 6.3 million people are internally displaced in Syria. Five million live in besieged cities and hard-to-reach areas.

Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) continues to work with key partners in the country to provide emergency relief and pastoral help for displaced families and those who lost their homes in the bombing. Our dedicated team members on the ground deliver food and other life-saving aid in difficult and often dangerous conditions.

Fr Maher Mansour from the Melkite Greek Catholic Patriarchate in Damascus says: “It is so sad to see these families living in such pitiful conditions and robbed of their dignity, full of fear for today and for tomorrow – the adults and above all the children.”

For the fourth year running, ACN is bringing destitute Syrians the joy of Christ’s birth by providing Christmas food parcels for displaced children and their families. This year ACN will provide food for 1,500 families in Damascus and 2,347 families in Aleppo.

Share your love and prosperity with destitute Syrian families and show them that the people of Malta care about them by sponsoring a Christmas food parcel. Your kind donation – whatever you can afford – will make a huge difference to a destitute family that is struggling to survive, and will bring joy to them this Christmas.

Please send a cheque made out to ACN (Malta) in an envelope marked “Christmas food parcel for Syria” by regular post to the following address: ACN Malta, 39b, Mdina Road, Attard ATD9038. You can also make a donation via bank transfer to APS Bank, Account No. 2000 1771 733. Please send an email with “Christmas food parcel for Syria” in the title to info@acnmalta.org to let us know when the donation transfer payment was made.
