The Camilleri Marine Ragusa Regatta kicks off

-

The recently held Camilleri Marine Ragusa Regatta kicked off with a fast start from Marsamxett Harbour, with Ramon Sant Hill’s Comanche Raider 3 leading the fleet and Jonathan Camilleri Bowman’s Maltese Falcon II in hot pursuit close behind.

Unfortunately, as the day progressed very light conditions prevailed resulting in only Comanche Raider 3 making it to the finish within the stipulated time limit.

The rest of the fleet retired and made the passage to Marina di Ragusa under motor.

The next morning, Maltese crews were invited to take part in the 7th Trofeo Achille Boroli and the 5th Hyblea Cup, organised by the Circoli Velici Iblei.

Once again light conditions prevailed meaning that racing consisted of one short race on Saturday and two races on Sunday morning.

The Trofeo Achille Boroli was brought home to Malta thanks to the efforts of Ramon Sant Hill and his crew on Comanche Raider 3. The Hyblea Cup saw Robert Ciantar and his Nauti Buoy crew take second place whilst Club Commodore Godwin Zammit and his Inspiration crew took third place.

The Race down from Ragusa to Malta, saw a start in light conditions near Ragusa.

Comanche Raider 3 led the way throughout and crossed the finish line in Marsamxett well ahead of the remaining boats.

Maltese Falcon II was second to cross the line followed by Inspiration, however it was Inspiration that clinched second place on corrected time.

This is the second year that Camilleri Marine supported the Ragusa Regatta.

Marine related prizes including Arimar Liferaft, Ocean Signal Electronic MOB, Starbrite cleaning supplies and many more were presented to the winners during a well-attended prize giving event.

“Camilleri Marine has been supporting the Royal Malta Yacht Club’s initiatives for a number of years now. Our support is not limited to just providing prizes but also about sharing the latest knowledge when it comes to safety at sea – the seminar we hosted was a great success and was welcomed by crews and members of the Club, who look forward to hearing about the latest safety technologies from the experts,” explained Kenneth Camilleri, Managing Director, Camilleri Marine.
