JAYE Malta celebrates 30 years of entrepreneurship with anniversary gala

-

Junior Achievement Young Enterprise Malta Foundation (formerly known as Young Enterprise) is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a gala dinner at the InterContinental Malta on 6 December at 7.30pm. All JAYE alumni, mentors, teachers, stakeholders and friends are invited to attend this event, to commemorate the achievements of the past three decades and to kick-start those of the future.

This important milestone will honour the hard working participants of the past 30 years, who have gone on to become the leaders of some of Malta’s most successful businesses. The event will also pay tribute to the hundreds of volunteers who have given their time to help young students achieve their career dreams and enjoy innumerable successes. Moreover, this celebration will commend the vision of the founders, staff and board members of JAYE who have con- tributed to developing the organisation’s unique approach.

As part of the event, JAYE Malta is also launching a People’s Choice Award for each decade on its Facebook page. The public is invited to nominate a JAYE alumni, mentor, advisor, teacher, staff or board member, or another stakeholder, who has contributed to JAYE who they feel best represents the spirit of the organisation. The winners will be announced on the night, over a fabulous three-course dinner shared with ex-teammates, mentors and collaborators.

“We invite everybody to share their JAYE story with us on 6 December as we celebrate the achievement of JAYE Malta as much as that of the hundreds of JAYE alumni who have benefitted from our non-formal educational experiences provided by our programmes over the past 30 years,” said Julian Azzopardi, CEO of JAYE Malta.

Since being founded in 1988, JAYE Malta has introduced nine school programmes that have inspired over 7,000 young minds. Two of those programmes – the non-formal postsecondary Company Programme and the non-formal Primary and Secondary Programme – were recently awarded Level 3 accreditation of the Malta Qualifications Framework (MQF 3). While not a replacement of the required ‘O’ Levels for entry into postsecondary and tertiary institutions, the learning outcomes and educational achievements of the programmes are equivalent to those obtained at ‘O’ Level.

“This celebration is an opportunity for JAYE alumni to give something back and for us to thank the many volunteers who have given their time, advice, energy, enthusiasm and support to students over the decades. Equally, it is a time to thank the many organisations that have funded us, sponsored us and kept us going in so many ways. More critically, it is also an opportunity to reaffirm the value and relevance of JAYE Malta’s work to the working world and our youth of today, and tomorrow,” Azzopardi concluded. The JAYE Malta 30th Anniversary Celebration will be held at InterContinental Malta on 6 December at 7.30pm.
