Far­sons ap­points Michael Far­ru­gia to Ex­ec­u­tive Di­rec­tor

Michael Far­ru­gia has been ap­pointed Ex­ec­u­tive Di­rec­tor re­spon­si­ble for Op­er­a­tions and Busi­ness Devel­op­ment of Si­monds Far­sons Cisk plc.

To bet­ter cap­i­talise on the in­tense in­vest­ment pro­gramme car­ried out over the years, Far­ru­gia will be fo­cus­ing on fur­ther de­vel­op­ing the com­pany's pro­duc­tive ca­pa­bil­i­ties, qual­ity stan­dards and cus­tomer ser­vice, which are es­sen­tial to con­tinue to grow the com­pany's lo­cal and in­ter­na­tional busi­ness. Far­ru­gia will work closely with and re­port to Far­sons Group Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Nor­man Aquilina.

"In his new ap­point­ment, I am con­fi­dent that Michael will be adding a new di­men­sion and giv­ing more fo­cus to our op­er­a­tions, work­ing closely with the op­er­a­tions man­age­ment team headed by Chief Op­er­a­tions Of­fi­cer Eu­ge­nio Caru­ana. This added at­ten­tion is crit­i­cally im­por­tant as we con­tinue to pur­sue the on­go­ing im­ple­men­ta­tion of our in­ter­na­tional busi­ness devel­op­ment vi­sion," Aquilina said. "Michael's ex­pe­ri­ence across the busi­ness, places him in a good po­si­tion to take on this ex­tended role and I look for­ward to work­ing even closer with him to re­alise the con­tin­ued growth and suc­cess of the Group."

Far­ru­gia is an MBA grad­u­ate of War­wick Univer­sity af­ter get­ting a Masters de­gree from Ed­in­burgh Univer­sity. In his pre­vi­ous role as Chief Busi­ness Devel­op­ment Of­fi­cer, he has driven the com­pany's in­ter­na­tion­al­i­sa­tion strat­egy and has been in­volved in key projects and in­vest­ments across the com­pany.

Mr Far­ru­gia also chairs the Board of Far­sons Bev­er­age Im­ports Com­pany Lim­ited. Since he joined the com­pany in 2006, he has played an ac­tive role in busi­ness/prod­uct in­no­va­tion and growth op­por­tu­ni­ties both lo­cally and abroad.

Com­ment­ing on his new ap­point­ment, Far­ru­gia said: "I am look­ing for­ward to this op­por­tu­nity to work even closer with the op­er­a­tions team, to con­tinue to cul­ti­vate a cul­ture of op­er­a­tional ex­cel­lence and see­ing through the ex­cit­ing and am­bi­tious con­ver­sion of the Far­sons Old Brew­house. This is planned to open its doors in the first quar­ter of 2021 and will also be a sig­nif­i­cant part of my new role."
