Farsons appoints Michael Farrugia to Executive Director

Michael Farrugia has been appointed Executive Director responsibl­e for Operations and Business Developmen­t of Simonds Farsons Cisk plc.

To better capitalise on the intense investment programme carried out over the years, Farrugia will be focusing on further developing the company's productive capabiliti­es, quality standards and customer service, which are essential to continue to grow the company's local and internatio­nal business. Farrugia will work closely with and report to Farsons Group Chief Executive Norman Aquilina.

"In his new appointmen­t, I am confident that Michael will be adding a new dimension and giving more focus to our operations, working closely with the operations management team headed by Chief Operations Officer Eugenio Caruana. This added attention is critically important as we continue to pursue the ongoing implementa­tion of our internatio­nal business developmen­t vision," Aquilina said. "Michael's experience across the business, places him in a good position to take on this extended role and I look forward to working even closer with him to realise the continued growth and success of the Group."

Farrugia is an MBA graduate of Warwick University after getting a Masters degree from Edinburgh University. In his previous role as Chief Business Developmen­t Officer, he has driven the company's internatio­nalisation strategy and has been involved in key projects and investment­s across the company.

Mr Farrugia also chairs the Board of Farsons Beverage Imports Company Limited. Since he joined the company in 2006, he has played an active role in business/product innovation and growth opportunit­ies both locally and abroad.

Commenting on his new appointmen­t, Farrugia said: "I am looking forward to this opportunit­y to work even closer with the operations team, to continue to cultivate a culture of operationa­l excellence and seeing through the exciting and ambitious conversion of the Farsons Old Brewhouse. This is planned to open its doors in the first quarter of 2021 and will also be a significan­t part of my new role."
