New Year’s Day lunch with San Blas Therapeutic Community (Caritas Malta)

-

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Malta celebrated New Year with San Blas Therapeutic Community (Caritas Malta) and organised a New Year’s Day lunch for the residents and members of staff. The intention of the lunch was to provide an atmosphere of respect, happiness, love and care for those people who are passing through difficult times in their life.

The respected Anthony Gatt, Director of Caritas Malta said: “I extend my appreciation for your gesture. The male residents helped out with the serving of the Christmas meal for homeless and lonely people and it is a kind gesture that your community is also holding this meal for them and that this time they are on the receiving end.”

Residents also expressed their gratitude and thanked the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community for this generous gesture. They also expressed their feelings by pointing out that, during this time of celebration, instead of celebrating with their families, the members of the Ahmadiyya Community had come to celebrate with them at San Blas.

Laiq Ahmed Atif, Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Malta President, said that they came here to celebrate the New Year with residents of San Blas to extend a message that every person is valuable and to show how important it is to help and support those who are in any way passing through hard times so that they can overcome their difficulties. Mr Atif said that they did not expect anything in return, not even thanks, because the Holy Quran says: “The virtuous people feed, for love of God, the poor, the orphan and the prisoner; saying: ‘ We feed you for Allah’s pleasure only. We desire no reward nor thanks from you.” (Holy Quran, 76:910).

He continued: “However, if you overcome your problems with determination and refrain from any addiction, this celebra- tion with you would be a great way of thanking and rewarding us.”

At the end of the event, all the residents presented a wonderful gesture to thank the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community by making the symbol of a heart with their fingers.
