Serie A club Fiorentina will be in Malta between 6 and 10 January as the team prepares for the resumption of its commitments after the New Year break, first in the Coppa Italia against Torino and later in the league.

It is the first time that Fiorentina will be bringing their full squad to Malta for a training camp.

The training camp will conclude with a triangular tournament with the participation of Maltese Premier Division sides Hibernians and Gzira. This will be held on Wednesday 9 January, starting at 5.45pm, at the National Stadium.

The presence of Fiorentina’s senior squad follows successful events held in the last week-end of May organized by the Viola Club Malta, which was celebrating its 50th anniversary.

On that occasion, officials of the Florentine club headed by the vice-president Eng. Gino Salica and club manager and exlegendary footballer Giancarlo Antognoni were in Malta on a four-day visit, accompanied by representatives of the Associazione Centro Coordinamento Viola Club (supporters club) and Associazione Glorie Viola (ex-Fiorentina players).

Led by coach Stefano Pioli, Fiorentina are coming to Malta with a full squad, including their latest acquisition, Colombian forward Luis Muriel, signed on loan from Spanish club Sevilla.

The Viola will train at the Malta FA training facilities in Ta’ Qali during their five-day stay in our country.

The training camp is being organised by Austrian-based sports company SLFC who have appointed MFA SportsPlus Limited to co-ordinate the logistical aspects.

For the Visit Malta tournament on Wednesday, 2018-19 season passes for club members and the general public are not valid.

Entrance tickets cost €8.

Only the West A and West C sectors of the National Stadium will be opened for the general public for Wednesday’s tournament.

Gates open at 4.15pm - 90 minutes prior to the opening match between Hibernians and Gżira United which kicks off at 5.45pm.
