First funrace of the season by Gozo Motorcross Association

The Gozo Motorcross Association organised its first FunRace of the season, last Sunday,6th January at Ta’ Xħajma Motocross Track. Races started at 1pm.

A rider reshuffle took place in all of the classes.

Class C welcomed Jurgen Attard who did quite well as a new rider. In fact , Attard came in third place. This class was won by Steve Cassar on his Suzuki RM 125cc He was followed by Anthony Fenech on a KTM 85cc.

In Class B Glenn Vella achieved the largest amount of points placing him in first place. He was followed by new comer Daniel Portelli. Keith Bugeja came in third place.

Class A had the very top riders participating with 80cc and 125cc bikes. One could notice that the powerful sound of these bikes is synonymous with the 2stroke engines. The race turned out to be interesting and added fun to the whole activity as Gozitan Champions Etienne Bigeni and Steve Xuereb rode their hearts out on the track with their low cc bikes but with the best of sounds. Bigeni won this category followed by Glenn Vella. Young Isaac Bartolo who is also a new rider in the GMA season, managed to place third.

This event was supported by Ravenol Oil Lubricant at Galea General Services in Gozo. Winners where given trophies and Ravenol products for their achievments.

Meanwhile, round 4 of the Yamaha Gozo Motocross Championship ‘19 will take place on Sunday, 20 th January 2019.
