Malta Open starts to­day

The 4th edi­tion of the Malta Snooker Open will be held at the Peace Band Club in Naxxar be­tween to­day and the 19th of Jan­uary.

26 lo­cal play­ers plus an­other 5 play­ers from other coun­tries will take part. All the top Mal­tese play­ers will take part, amongst them are Tony Drago, Alex Borg, Brian Cini, Aaron Busut­til, Dun­can Bezzina and Si­mon Zam­mit. Be­sides this top field we have fa­mous for­eign play­ers tak­ing part. James Cahill who is tak­ing part for the sec­ond year run­ning has just beaten World No1 Mark Selby only few weeks ago. An­other fa­mous player is ex-pro­fes­sional Jamie Cur­tis Bar­rett. The other play­ers are Danny Con­nolly, Blain Hen­drey (son of ex-World Snoker Cham­pion Stephen Hen­drey and French­man Gre­gory Kopec.

Matches will start as from to­day and will be played all day start­ing at 9.30am and fin­ish at 9pm.

The Malta Open which is be­ing spon­sored by At­trans will have a record prize money of 4,000 Euros. Win­ner will get 1,500 while the run­ner up will pocket 800 Euro. The Semi-Fi­nal­ists get 400 Euro each while the Quar­ter-Fi­nal­ists take 180 Euro each. The prize money for the high­est break is 180 Euro

En­trance for the pub­lic is free of charge.
