Swieqi’s positive run of five games came to a halt yesterday as Naxxar struck gold deep in stoppage time to obtain their second consecutive victory.

Jurgen Debono’s goal on 92 minutes gave Naxxar a flattering victory in an otherwise drab affair. The game never came to life with Naxxar having the edge in the first half, and with Swieqi showing the better ideas on the resumption

Nanapere went close with a freekick after five minutes, and in the second half the Naxxar custodian made a stunning save off a Calabretta freekick. On 92 minutes Nanapere made way on the left flank and passed towards Jurgen Debono who slotted home with a low drive from an acute angle.
