Marsovin has announced the launch of an exclusive new book that tells the story of the winery from its humble beginnings in 1919 to leading Malta’s wine industry today.

Commissioned by Marsovin to commemorate its 100th anniversary, ‘ A Century of Wine: The Marsovin Story’ has been penned by renowned Maltese writer Victor Calleja, and features historic accounts and rare photographs sourced from the company archives and the National Archives of Malta. Calleja also includes personal interviews he has conducted with eyewitnesses who recall the extraordinary journey of Marsovin and the Cassar family through the years.

“We are delighted and proud to be able to commit the Marsovin story to print, and to celebrate our century as pioneers in Malta’s wine industry,” says Jeremy Cassar, CEO of Marsovin, and greatgrandson of Marsovin’s original founder. “This incredible 100year milestone for the company is also a milestone for my family, who have been instrumental in the company’s longevity and success. The book is the chance to put our family history into print at last, for posterity.”

Founded in 1919 by Chev Anthony Cassar, who purchased wine from local importers and sold it from horse-drawn carts across the island, Marsovin has remained a family-run business and has achieved renown as a name synonymous in Malta with premium wines. Throughout the century in which it has forged Malta’s wine industry, Marsovin has been the first to sell wine in glass bottles, has built Malta’s first temperature-controlled fermentation tanks, and has launched the label’s first vintage, estate and organic wines.

Only a limited run of ‘A Century of Wine: The Marsovin Story’ will be produced, with each of the 2,500 beautifully designed, high-quality copies to be individually numbered for exclusivity. The book is now available for sale from the Marsovin Cellars and from leading book retailers in Malta and Gozo.
