● BOV partners with BirdLife Malta in special event at Għadira Nature Reserve to celebrate eNGO’s wildlife club for young naturalists

Over the weekend BirdLife Malta held a special event at Għadira Nature Reserve to celebrate Klabb Ħuttaf, the eNGO’s wildlife club for young naturalists.

This was an exclusive event held over two days for which BirdLife Malta invited its junior members together with Year 4 students who have been receiving its junior and family magazine Il-Ħuttafa for free during the past scholastic year to show them what it means to be part of the Klabb Ħuttaf family and invite them to join the club.

A number of young nature explorers accepted the invitation and joined BirdLife Malta reserve and education staff on Saturday evening for an adventure to discover what happens at a nature reserve at night, and on Sunday morning to see what happens when the nature reserve first wakes up.

Kids were taken on a guided exploration tour of the reserve, with activities and crafts along the way, whilst parents stayed at the visitor’s centre to learn all about some Malta’s amazing natural sites and activities they can do with their children in nature.

BirdLife Malta Education Manager Sarah Brady commented: “We are very excited about our new events programme exclusively for our child members. This was an opportunity for us to say thank you to our members for their support and further develop a community of naturelovers who can enjoy unique events with BirdLife Malta.”

BirdLife Malta Communication Manager Nathaniel Attard stated: “A special thank you goes to our sponsors Bank of Valletta (BOV) for providing gifts for all the children who attended. Without BOV and other sponsors such as the Malta National Aquarium and their continued support of the magazine, none of this would be possible.”

Bank of Valletta representative Marie Vella, who attended the event, enthused: “It was truly a pleasure to watch these young nature-lovers participating wholeheartedly, having fun while learning more about Malta’s wildlife and the nature reserves. BirdLife Malta will now be holding these exclusive events for Klabb Ħuttaf members six times a year for more fun-filled experiences in nature as part of an enthusiastic community. Parents who are interested in enrolling their children in BirdLife Malta’s Klabb Ħuttaf can do so here. Klabb Ħuttaf members receive their own Il-Ħuttafa magazine every two months, a nature colouring book, and invites to activities throughout the year. Better still, why not join as a family! In this way children receive Il-Ħuttafa magazine at home and parents receive BirdLife Malta’s quarterly Bird’s Eye View magazine and a monthly newsletter together with updates about upcoming activities.

Memberships enable BirdLife Malta to continue its work across the Maltese Islands, conserving wild birds and their habitats and create exclusive clubs just like Klabb Ħuttaf.
