31st COVID 19 death; 29 new cases found

A woman became the 31st victim of Coronaviru­s in Malta, the government yesterday.

The woman, aged 92, was resident in an elderly people’s home.

She had tested positive on 15 September and died last night. The woman had other medical conditions.

The health authoritie­s also said that 29 new COVID-19 cases were found between Friday and yesterday, with 43 patients recovering.

The number of swab tests carried out on Friday was 2,096, for a total of 245,028.

The number of cases is edging closer to 3,000, as they have now reached 2,958, of which 2,304 have recovered.

The number of active cases is now 623.

The health authoritie­s gave no details about yesterday’s cases, but said that from the cases recorded on Friday, six were family members of preivously known cases, two direct contacts of other positive cases, one from social gatherings, one was imported and three were from the Casa San Paolo home for the elderly.
