Winner of National Anti-Bullying Week 2019
Between 11 and 15 November 2019 bBrave launched Malta’s first ever national Anti-Bullying Week with schools and youth organisations with the theme Change starts with us. The initiative was intended to instil a sense of empowerment in our youth so they can be the force of positive change. Schools and youth organisations held a variety of activities including odd socks days, fund-raising, bookreading sessions and several artistic sessions, all related to the anti-bullying theme. bBrave representatives addressed thousands of students at school assemblies.
This first national Anti-Bullying Week was officially launched on 13 November 2019 during bBrave’s fund-raising dinner at one80 kitchen & lounge, Mellieħa. one80 donated all profits from this event to support bBrave’s work. The dinner was preceded by a personal discussion on bullying between bBrave members and local celebrities Cassandra Spiteri, Petra and Tamara Webb.
The diners were welcomed by Ben Camille, who endorsed bBrave’s mission as being one that truly brought about change in society. As part of this annual initiative, bBrave will each year award the organisation that is most engaged, and it is happy to announce that the winner of the bBrave Anti-Bullying Week 2019 is Our Lady Immaculate School, Ħamrun.
From the creation of occasion bookmarks, posters and banners to holding a crazy hair day, a dance and several workshops, this school showed not only that it cared, but that children and youths were able to tackle the subject in many creative ways.
This year’s Anti-Bullying Week shall take place between 16 and 20 November with the theme United against bullying.
bBrave shall be releasing more information about this year’s activities in the coming weeks, having regard to the circumstances brought about by COVID-19.
