153 works from 18 schools for China art competition
Every year, the China Cultural Centre in Malta collaborates with the Ministry for Education to organise a children’s art competition, sponsored by Shanghai Electric Power (Malta) Hold-ing Ltd, whereby an open call is made to all schools in Malta to participate. An ongoing online exhibition is being held on the China Cultural Centre in Malta Facebook page entitled the 12th Imagining China Children’s Art Exhibition, which weekly showcases 10 selected artistic works submitted for the competition.
The theme of the competition, Magnificent China, was welcomed by students across the Mal-tese islands and the CCC was thrilled to receive more than 150 artistic works brimming with creativity and conveying children’s wonderful fascination with China and Chinese culture. The competition was open to students from Year 7 to Year 10 and a total of 18 schools partic-ipated. The online announcement of the six winners is highly anticipated among the partici-pants.
The Minister for Education, Dr Justyne Caruana, the Chinese Ambassador to Malta, H. E. Mr Yu Dunhai along with Mr Yang Xiaolong, director of the CCC and the panel of judges will congratulate the winners during the award ceremony to be held on Zoom on 16 March.
The young artists were explosive in their use of colour and used traditional, as well as, mod-ern visual design elements of China to capture the competition’s theme. The subject of their artistic works varied from Chinese architecture and lush natural landscapes to mythical drag-ons and Chinese people wearing traditional clothing.
