Baritone superstar John Lundgren in Malta

The Valletta Cultural Agency will be hosting a spectacular evening with superstar baritone John Lundgren. A Night for Music with John Lundgren brings together the powerful voice of John Lundgren and the musical prowess of pianist Klavs Lewinski in a musical journey through the works of the great composers of the classic and romantic eras including Mozart, Wagner, Bizet and Rangströma, set in the elegant ambiance of the Ballroom at the Casino Maltese in Republic Street Valletta on Saturday, 4 December.

Lundgren is a dramatic baritone and a versatile performer who combines his powerful voice with a fine sensitivity for the dramatic opera repertoire.

Guest engagements have taken the Swedish baritone to important opera houses such as London, Munich, Berlin, Stockholm, Zürich, Geneva, Dresden, Hamburg, Leipzig, Amsterdam, Gothenburg, Oslo, Beijing and Tokyo as well as to the Bregenz and Bayreuth Festivals.

Among the music that Lundgren will be performing in Malta is Votre toast from Carmen by George Bizet, Deh, vieni alla finestra from Don Giovanni and Was duftet doch der Flieder from Die Meistersinger by W.A. Mozart.

Lundgren will be accompanied by Klavs Lewinsky at the piano. Lewinsky was for many years a vocal coach and accompanist at The Royal Danish Academy. He has a busy career as a rehearsal pianist in Copenhagen in various musical settings, including The Royal Danish Opera, and contemporary music theatre. In recent years he has concentrated on his work as an advanced opera coach, coaching individual singers on a freelance basis.
