Digital make-over A4U2022 grants
Thanks to Aġenzija Żgħażagħ the Malta GC Sea Cadet Corps has benefitted from funds through the A4U 2022 grants and they are very grateful for these funds which have increased the digital capacity of the Unit and thus the cadets can benefit from an up-to-date experience using technology when necessary. It will also be possible to join much easier and with better quality online sessions for training and qualification purposes. The
Malta GC Sea Cadet Corps has also managed to buy five new kayaks and safety helmets through Reboot funds also through Aġenzija Żgħażagħ and European Year of Youth 2022 Project. These funds are a great assistance especially in view of the difficult times the organisation has gone through in holding fund-rasising events due to the pandemic.
The Malta GC Sea Cadet Corps is a youth organisation which aims to give young people the best possible head start in life through nautical adventure and fun based on the customs and traditions of the Royal Navy. Being part of the Eastern Area SCC of the UK Sea Cadet Corps (SCC) the TS St Paul Sea Cadets Corps Malta GC (SCC Malta) follows on the mission of the SCC. The purpose of the SCC is to promote the development of young people in achieving their physical, intellectual and social potential as individuals and as responsible citizens by the provision of education and leisure time activities using a nautical theme.
The sea cadets develop knowledge, skills and an understanding needed to play a full part in their community as active and responsible citizens. Cadets learn about politics, parliament, different cultures, faiths, their local community and naval history. They also learn the skills of active citizenship by researching and taking part in community projects. Youngsters can join from the age of 10 years as junior cadets or at the age of 1217years as cadets. After 18 years they can still keep contributing as volunteers as civilians or uniformed instructors.
