Five in a row for superior Hamrun Spartans

-

Hamrun Spartans continued with their brilliant start to the season with yet another very good performance, brushing aside another aspirant for the title race.

No doubt that the Spartans are the team to beat this season and yesterday they confirmed all their class and power as they grabbed the three points at stake with relative ease.

Taking an early lead thanks to a goal scored by Guillaumeir, who produced another five star performance, the Spartans never looked back, dominating the match with possession football and never leaving the Greens any real scoring opportunities.

After only three minutes Hamrun broke the deadlock with a Jonny run on the right with his pass back heeled by Prsa towards the completely unmarked Guillaumier who drilled low into the net from the edge of the area.

Three minutes later the Spartans almost doubled the score but Kitanov managed to turn into a corner a dangerous Dodo shot.

Half way through the first half another Hamrun chance with Jonny’s deflected shot going just wide. Just before the break a Floriana attempt at goal with Kemar Reid hitting wide from ana cute angle.

At the start of the second half Kitanov was again called in action denying Montebello and on 68 minutes Floriana’s best chance with Ciolacu denied by a fine Bonello save.

Four minutes later Kitanov saved his side again this time blocking Ryan Camenzuli’s effort against his former club.

On 76 minutes the game was dead and buried when Elvis Mashike pounced on a Floriana defensive error to hit home with the ball hitting the base of the upright before finishing at the back of the net.

Ten minutes from time Bonello kept his goal intact with another good save off a De Garzia drive.
