Some of Malta’s best and brightest young minds put their financial skills to test in the second Financial Literacy Quiz recently organised by HSBC Malta Foundation and ĠEMMA.

The event was open to students in Years 7 and 8 and saw the participation of students from International Independent Boarding School, St Martin's College, St Edward's College, and St. Ignatius College Ħandaq Middle School.

Each school could nominate up to two teams of five students for the quiz with the top three teams awarded prizes of €300, €200, and €100 for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively.

The event kicked off with the launch of the new ĠEMMA Financial literacy flashcards, which were also awarded to each participating team. The flash cards are a ĠEMMA initiative aimed at introducing basic concepts and definitions linked to money management and financial literacy to students.

ĠEMMA is a government agency that works to promote and support financial education and consumer protection in Malta.

The launch was followed by a financial literacy session delivered by HSBC which gave students

the opportunity to gain valuable insights and ask any questions they had.

The highlight of the even was without a doubt the quiz, which saw students battle it out for the top prize which was won by one of the teams representing St

Martin’s College.

"We are thrilled with the success of this event and the enthusiasm shown by the students. We truly believe in the importance of empowering students to make the right financial decisions throughout their life and to start

doing so at a young age," said Glenn Bugeja Manager Corporate Sustainability at HSBC Malta.
