JOSÉ MANUEL RINCÓN
Rincón siempre tuvo claro que quería dedicarse a la actuación. “Llegué a la Ciudad de México cuando tenía 19 años y soñaba con ser actor. Empecé a investigar dónde estudiar, fui a castings y me preparé. Desde que estaba en la escuela quería dos cosas: aparecer en alguna plataforma de streaming y hacer cine”. Al poco tiempo, José Manuel ya había conseguido participar en algunos proyectos televisivos y uno en particular que le cambiaría la vida: Monarca, la exitosa serie mexicana de Netflix.
“Tuve la fortuna de que mi personaje apareciera en las dos temporadas. Nunca me cansaré de agradecer y reconocer todo lo que aprendí de esa producción”.
Rincón was always sure that he wanted to make a career in acting. “I came to Mexico City when I was 19 years old and dreamed of being an actor. I started researching where to study, I went to castings and prepared myself. Since I was in school, I wanted two things: be featured in a streaming platform and make movies”. After a while, José Manuel had already managed to participate in some television projects and one that would change his life: Monarca, the successful Mexican Netflix series.
“I was fortunate that my character appeared in both seasons. I will never get tired of thanking and acknowledging everything I learned from that production”.

Sed de probar nuevos retos profesionales
La popularidad que ha ganado gracias a Monarca lo ha convertido en la nueva promesa de la actuación. José Manuel no niega su sed de crecimiento profesional, pero sí busca participar en proyectos que sigan la misma línea, que tengan la intención de narrar historias reales. “La suerte ha estado de mi lado y me siento afortunado de que se hable de mi trabajo. Seguiré buscando historias y personajes interesantes, a los que yo pueda aportar algo más allá de lo que está escrito en el papel”.
Historias con intención
Sobre las historias que vemos en pantalla, el actor es claro sobre los filmes que, como sociedad, deberíamos consumir y romper paradigmas con lo establecido, ya sea en televisión, cine o en plataformas digitales. “Necesitamos contar historias que involucren personajes complejos que confundan al espectador. Romper la barrera y no etiquetarlos entre buenos y malos. Como público estamos un poco saturados de ver una y otra vez las mismas historias. Yo creo que ese es el encanto que nos han traído las plataformas de streaming: tenemos acceso a ver series de otras culturas del mundo”.
Actor: creador de personajes
En cuanto a la elección de sus personajes, José Manuel se sincera sobre este proceso, dándonos un pequeño vistazo de su metodologia. “Elegir el personaje mucho tiene que ver con el conjunto del proyecto. Al final, la gente se apropia de tu personaje y en ese momento se crea una empatía o un tipo de relación con el público. El que yo pueda aportar algo es lo que me causa interés. Creo que como espectador quieres ver algo diferente y parte de mi trabajo es darle la vuelta a lo que ya está y no encasillarme en lo mismo”.
Sobre sus referencias artísticas
Uno de mis actores favoritos es el argentino, Ricardo Darín. Es mi mayor referente actoral, trato de aprender cómo elige los proyectos y personajes que interpreta. Me parece que la línea que él sigue es la de contar buenas historias e interpretar personajes complejos.
Las expresiones artísticas que te inspiran.
Los libros y el cine son mi entretenimiento. Trato de leer todos los días y, si tengo tiempo, lo hago muchas horas al día. Me ayuda a nutrirme, enfocarme, crear, idear y buscar referencias. Parte de mi trabajo justo es estar buscando estas referencias que van ampliando el panorama de cómo veo las cosas y es fundamental para abordar desde otro punto de vista a los personajes.
New professional challenges
The popularity that he has gained thanks to Monarca, has made him the new promise of acting. José Manuel does not deny the thirst for professional growth, but he seeks to participate in projects that follow the same line, that have the intention of telling real stories. “Luck has been on my side, and I feel blessed that my work is being talked about. I will continue looking for interesting stories and characters, to whom I can contribute something beyond what is written on paper.”
Intentional stories
Regarding the stories that we see on the screen, José Manuel is sincere about the films that, as a society, we should consume and break paradigms established either on television, cinema, or on digital platforms. “We need to tell stories that involve complex characters that confuse the viewer. Breaking the barrier and not labeling them as good or bad. As an audience, we are a bit saturated with seeing the same stories repeatedly. I think that is the charm that streaming platforms have brought us: we have access to watch series from other cultures around the world.”
Actor: Character Creator
Regarding the choice of his characters, José Manuel opens about this process, giving us a little glimpse of his methodology. “Choosing the character has a lot to do with the project. In the end, people take ownership of your character and at that moment an empathy or a type of relationship with the public is created. The fact that I can contribute something is what interests me. I think that as a spectator you want to see something different, and part of my job is to turn around what is already there and not to pigeonhole myself in the same thing.”
About his artistic references
One of my favorite actors is the Argentine, Ricardo Darín. He is my biggest acting reference; I try to learn about how he chooses the projects and characters that he plays. It seems to me that the line that he follows is that of telling good stories and playing complex characters.
The artistic expressions that inspire him.
Books and movies are my entertainment. I try to read every day and, if I have time, I do it many hours a day. It helps me nurture, focus, create, devise, and seek references. Part of my job is just to be looking for these references that are expanding the panorama of how I see things and it is essential to approach the characters from another point of view.
