‘PARALLEL UNIVERSE’ RAISES AWARENESS ABOUT CHILD ABUSE

RAISES AWARENESS ABOUT CHILD ABUSE

- By T.BAYARBAT

The non-governmental organization Lantuun Dohio and Tusgal Photo Studio are presenting "Parallel Universe" at UB Art Gallery through January 17.

The photography exhibition is being held to raise awareness about the importance of preventing child abuse. The exhibition's curators hope to introduce state officials, the public, and the media to the current realities of the abuse and neglect experienced by children in Mongolia.

The exhibition's organizers want the images on display in the exhibition to motivate people to fight child abuse. Lantuun Dohio is working to establish the Id Shidiin Oron Child Development Center, and has launched a project to draft guidelines on how to protect children’s rights.

O.Misheel, a member of Lantuun Dohio, said that a number of Mongolians living abroad have funded Lantuun Dohio’s project to contribute to children's development. He pointed out that over 60 young people are constantly working to implement Lantuun Dohio’s initia- tives, and that over 250 young people are ready to work together to perform any urgent tasks.

He noted that Lantuun Dohio is free of political and corporate influence. O.Misheel said that Lantuun Dohio carries out its operations by informing people in smart and creative ways, and by listening to people. He said that Lantuun Dohio’s positions and perspectives have gained a lot of support and the organization is influencing public opinion on important issues.

The photos in the exhibition document Lantuun Dohio's ongoing cases and objectives, facts and data that they have collected, and the impacts that donors have on the lives of the children they foster.

Lantuun Dohio’s youth supporters have carried out campaigns over the past two years to provide children with gifts from Santa Claus for the holidays.

UB Art Gallery is sponsoring the exhibition to promote youth initiatives to deal with challenges facing society.

Photography of some of the photos in the exhibition is restricted, but the gallery is open to the public.
