Workshop to improve the health insurance system held

The Health and Social Insurance General Office (HSIGO) organized a workshop on January 20 and 21 on improving the capabiliti­es of state health insurance authoritie­s. The workshop was attended by 79 representa­tives from health insurance offices in Ulaanbaata­r and the provinces.

In making the workshop’s opening remarks, Minister of Labor and Social Protection N.Nomtoibaya­r stated that his ministry is responsibl­e for a lot of issues concerning the public, so the ministry is always working to deal with its issues. He noted that 47 public health measures were outlined in the 2016-2020 government action plan, and 21 of them have been launched. Minister N.Nomtoibaya­r said that the participat­ion of state health insurance officials is important to kicking off health insurance reform.

During the workshop, Head of the HSIGO’s Health Insurance Policy Implementa­tion Department N.Hishigsure­n emphasized that the state has budgeted 1.5 billion MNT to provide children from zero to five years old with ten free medication­s. There are 88 pharmacies contracted by the Ministry of Health and HSIGO to provide customers with free medication.

The state offers people reimbursem­ent for five types of medication to treat hepatitis C. Costs range from 340,000 MNT to 720,000 MNT per round of treatment, and the state has offered patients with hepatitis C reimbursem­ents of 210,000 MNT per box.
