Chinese New Year marked in Ulaanbaatar
The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China and the China Cultural Center in Ulaanbaatar (CCCU) organized a Chinese Day event at Sky Resort on Saturday, part of the Chinese Spring Festival 2017 program celebrating the Chinese Lunar New Year.
Representatives from a number of embassies in Ulaanbaatar, Chinese nationals residing in Mongolia, and young Mongolian people studying Chinese culture and language attended the event.
A team from Shandong, where Chinese philosopher and teacher Confucius was born, arrived in Ulaanbaatar to give a Chinese New Year performance. Their performance included songs, dances, acrobatics, Chinese sugar painting, and a Confucian drama performed through dance.
Director of the CCCU and Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy Li Wei pointed out that annual Chinese New Year activities are carried out to share happiness with Mongolians and to promote Chinese cultures. The Spring Festival is celebrated by wishing happiness, good fortune, wealth, and health for others in the upcoming year. She wished the Mongolian people all the best in 2017.
B.Amgalan of the CCCU said that Chinese Cultural Day has been celebrated in Mongolia for three consecutive years, and that the last event of the Chinese Spring Festival’s program in Mongolia will be held on February 18.
