Labor Minister meets with the press to talk about labor and social welfare
Minister of Labor and Social Protection N.Nomtoibayar met with journalists and prominent voices on social media on Monday to discuss labor, welfare, and social protection issues.
At the beginning of the meeting, Minister N.Nomtoibayar spoke about the ministry’s ongoing and upcoming projects. He noted that nearly 800,000 individuals receive 69 different state wel- fare allowances, and that around 250 billion MNT has been allocated for welfare payments this year. He said that the ministry is working to create jobs and improve the work environment for people living with disabilities.
The Minister noted that directing welfare to targeted groups is optimal, and that the ministry has started establishing agreements with Germany, Australia, the Czech Republic, and Japan to train Mongolia’s workforce.
He stated that the ministry is working to cut the size of the foreign workforce in Mongolia in half. He added that 34,000 Mongolians are living and working in South Korea, and that their average age is 29.
Minister N.Nomtoibayar highlighted that so- cial and health insurance systems will be improved by making legal and regulatory changes. He said that a system to calculate the minimum wage and pensions based on inflation will be created, and that the ministry is studying Singapore’s system for increasing social insurance deductions and creating retirement savings accounts.
