Agricultural Minister discusses cooperation with Russia and Japan
Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry P.Sergelen held meetings with the ambassadors of Japan and the Russian Federation to talk about agricultural cooperation.
During his meeting with Ambassador of Japan to Mongolia Masato Takaoka on Friday, Minister P.Sergelen pointed out that following the signing of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between his ministry and Japan’s Shizuoka and Hokkaido prefectures, agricultural cooperation reaching across Mongolia’s provinces has increased.
The sides agreed to implement cooperative projects to continue developing Mongolia’s agricultural sector, to improve livestock health, and to help regulate the inspection of meat and dairy products. The Minister asked Ambassador Takaoka to support the implementation of food and agricultural projects and programs being carried out under the 2017-2021 mid-term program for the development of strategic partnership and the economic partnership agreement between the two countries.
In Minister P.Sergelen’s meeting with Russian Ambassador to Mongolia Azizov Iskander Kubarovich, the sides discussed implementing joint programs and projects to improve the health of Mongolian livestock and to grow grain suitable for Mongolian climate conditions.
They also discussed the Russian provision of foot and mouth disease vaccines. Ambassador Azizov noted that Russia is ready to hold a consultative meeting between specialists and officials to discuss the purchase of vaccines from Russia.
