Top fencers of Mongolia headed to Japan on March 17 for a 10-day joint training with Japanese fencers.

This is the second time Mongolian and Japanese fencers are holding a joint training in Japan.

The Fencing Association of Mongolia and Imabetsu town of Japan signed a cooperation contract in 2015 to prepare athletes for the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics.

Through the contract, Mongolian fencers were given the chance to attend a joint training in Japan every year.

The Mongolian top fencers, led by Ts.Jigjidsuren (Duel Club) and coached by B.Khatanzorig (Uurkhaichin Club), are B.Amarzaya, G.Davaatsog, U.Margad-Erdene and Z.Khishigdelger from Uurkhaichin Club; A.Bat-Erdene and A.Amarbold from Khangarid Club; M.Yalguun from UB Fenc- ing Club; and O.Doljinsuren from Duel Club.

The federation highlighted that the fencing sport is experiencing a rapid growth in Mongolia, with rising interest from young people and increased memberships. Currently, Mongolia has over 300 fencers.
