Deputy Minister of Labor speaks at UN session on economic empowerment for women
Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection S.Mungunchimeg and Member of Parliament A.Undraa are participating in the 61st session of the Commission on the Status of Women, which is being held in New York City through March 24.
The session is taking place under the theme “Women’s economic empowerment in the changing world of work”.
The Deputy Minister attended the segments of the session reviewing the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action from the Fourth World Conference on Women held in 1995, in Beijing, and the outcomes of the 23rd special session of the UN General Assembly.
S.Mungunchimeg gave a speech about measures the Government of Mongolia is taking to increase women's participation in government and gender equality.
She noted that the Government of Mongolia has always worked to improve women’s education, achieve gender equality, promote women’s economic empowerment, and improve women’s employability.
The Mongolian delegation also attended ministerial meetings to discuss how to close gender pay gaps in the public and private sector, and build alliances to promote women’s economic empowerment in the changing world of work.
