TIKA and Mongolia negotiate on a wide range of cooperation projects
Yesterday, Minister of Environment, Green Development and Tourism D.Oyunkhorol met with Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) Coordinator Veysel Ciftci to discuss cooperation in air and soil pollution reduction, tourism infrastructure development, and establishing an exchange program for Turkish and Mongolian media representatives.
They also exchanged views on carrying out projects to develop a tourism destination near the Tonyukuk monument in Erdene soum, Tuv Province, and joint efforts to improve forest pest management, strengthen the management of special protected areas, and tackle the poaching of wild sheep, mountain goats, and red deer.
In the past, TIKA has conducted archaeological excavations near the Tonyukuk monument and has been responsible for the monument's preservation. Ciftci told Minister D.Oyunkhorol about TIKA’s plans to establish a museum at the monument in the near future, and requested the ministry’s support in its opening.
In the last 25 years, TIKA has carried out numerous projects in Mongolia, including the excavation and study of historic sites, building museums, constructing the Bilge Khaan road, supporting reindeer herders, resolving environmental and public health challenges, and improving the education system.
