- By B.TUNGALAG

International Sports Master of the Mongolian United Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness G.Dorj returned home after claiming a gold medal in the men’s 70 kg category of the 2017 Arnold Amateur International Championships bodybuilding tournament, which took place in Ohio, USA from March 2 to 5.

He returned home on March 20 and general director of the Mongolian United Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness G.Ochir, vice president of the federation S.Boldbaatar and other people welcomed him at the airport.

G.Dorj spoke about his experience at the 2017 Arnold Amateur International Championships in the following interview.

Congratulations on becoming the first Mongolian bodybuilder to win a gold medal from the Arnold Classic events. How are you feeling?

Thank you. I am very happy for bringing Mongolia’s first winner’s cup from the competition. I want to express my gratitude to everyone who supported me.

The bodybuilding sport is very tough. Did you prepare well for the tournament?

Arnold Classic is one of the highest profile tournaments in the world. Asian and world’s top athletes compete in this tournament. A total of 19 bodybuilders from 18 countries competed in the men’s 70 kg category. An American bodybuilder was the most powerful opponent for me. I have been bodybuilding for 18 years. It is very nice to see the results of my hard work.

I competed in last year’s tournament but couldn’t win a medal. I understood that my preparation was incomplete at the time. This year, I prepared very hard.

What are you planning to do next?

I have a very big dream to become a professional athlete. I will become a professional athlete if I win the Arnold Classic for two years in a row.

That’s why, I am planning to prepare myself for next year’s Arnold Classic and win. I will become the very first professional bodybuilding athlete of Mongolia if I win next year’s event.
