Mongolia snatches seven medals at Special Olympics
The Mongolian national team, comprised of 14 athletes, has won seven medals at the Austria 2017 Special Olympics World Winter Games, which concluded on Friday.
Mongolian athletes have won two gold, four silver and one bronze medal from the Special Olympics.
M.Gantumur, who won a bronze medal in the men’s cross country skiing 50m event, secured a gold medal in the men’s cross country skiing 100m race on March 22.
Mongolia’s first gold was taken by B.Uyanga in the women’s cross country skiing 50m race on March 20 and she won a silver medal in the 100m race of the same category on March 22.
Athlete B.Oyunbileg secured two silver medals in women’s snowshoeing 100m and 200m races. S.Temuulen of Mongolia also pocketed a silver medal in the men’s snowshoeing 25m race.
Over 3,000 athletes from 107 countries challenged their abilities in the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2017.
The Special Olympics World Winter Games takes place every two years and involves adults and children with intellectual disabilities.
