‘PAULA MODERSOHN-BECKER AND THE WORPSWEDE’
Goethe-Institut Mongolei and the Mongolian Contemporary Art Support Center are presenting “Paula Modersohn-Becker and the Worpswede” at the Fine Arts Zanabazar Museum from March 20 to 31.
Over 50 drawings and prints by Paula Modersohn-Becker are on display in the exhibition.
Bitter but tasty. Blazing but peaceful. Simple but complicated. These are the contrasts that describe the work of German painter Paula Modersohn-Becker, one of the most important representatives of early expressionism. She is often recognized as the first female painter to paint female nudes.
Paula Modersohn-Becker, Pablo Picasso, and Henri Matisse introduced the world to modernism at the start of the 20th century, but while Picasso and Matisse became household names, Paula ModersohnBecker’s name and work have been relatively obscure for decades.
