Meat exporters received by the Professional Inspection Agency
Head of the Professional Inspection Agency and State Inspector General, N.Tsagaankhuu met with the owners of companies that export meat and meat products to discuss food safety and meeting health standards for export.
Executive Director of the Meat Industry Association B.Ochirbat represented Mongolian meat exporters and noted that Mongolian companies are eager to promptly resolve issues concerning exporting meat and meat products to China.
The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection, and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China is set to visit Mongolia in May to conduct a risk assessment at the request of Mongolian exporters.
The Professional Inspection Agency and the Chinese General Administration of Quality Su- pervision, Inspection, and Quarantine have issued special protocols and memorandums of understanding on three separate occasions. In 2011, a protocol was signed regarding heat-processed meat and veterinary sanitation requirements; in 2016, a protocol was signed regarding the export of meat from cows, sheep, and goats; and in 2015, a memorandum of understanding was signed on horse meat dumplings, veterinary practices, sanitation, and quarantine. The two sides have also agreed upon veterinary certificates required for the export of meat and meat products.
Currently, within the five Western provinces, there are four companies that export horse meat; six companies that that export beef, mutton, and goat meat; four companies that export heat-processed meat; five companies that supply beef for heat-processed meat exports; and 25 factories that produce horse meat dumplings for export.
