CONSTRUCTION SECTOR REPRESENTATIVES VISIT CHINA
Representatives of the construction sector, led by Member of Parliament and Minister of Construction and Urban Development G.Munkhbayar, are on an official visit to China from April 10-12. The representatives were invited by the Chinese Minister of Housing and Urban and Rural Development, Chen Jen Gao.
On the first day of visit, Minister Chen received the Mongolian delegation at the Ministry of Housing and Urban and Rural Development. During their meeting, Minister G.Munkhbayar expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to visit China in an official capacity and expressed his delight that China and Mongolia will work together in support of the development of a strategic partnership.
The Mongolian Ministry of Construction and Urban Development and the Chinese Ministry of Housing and Urban and Rural Development renewed a memorandum of understanding first signed in 2006, and agreed upon clear directions for further cooperation.
The visit also allowed for the discussion of issues such as developing and effectively improving bilateral relations within the construction sector at the Zamiin-Uud Free Trade Zone located in Mongolia’s Dornodgovi Province. The Chinese government has decided to issue a government grant to fund development of the free trade zone.
Another positive development was discussion of the Chinese government’s investment in the 1,000 Families Temporary Housing Project. The Mongolian representatives accompanying Minister G.Munkhbayar met with officials from the Chinese Ministry of Trade to finalize agreements on the project.
The Chinese Ministry of Housing and Urban and Rural Development was introduced to the current activities of the Mongolian construction sector. The parties discussed how to implement projects in accordance with new Mongolian laws regarding building standards and document processing, and Chinese research, and energy-saving technology were also discussed.
On April 11, the Mongolia-China Construction and Urban Development Sector Investment 2017 forum was held at the Mongolian Embassy in China. The forum was attended by construc- tion material manufacturers and representatives of businesses working within the sector. During the forum, a discussion was held on cooperation between the two countries’ business owners.
