Chinese-Mongolian coal forum to be held during Coal Mongolia 2017
The Coal Mongolia 2017 expo will be held on September 7-9, in Ulaanbaatar, and will host a Chinese-Mongolian coal forum on the first day of the expo for attendees, industry leaders, and state officials.
The expo's forum will follow up on themes addressed during the seventh international Global Cooking Coal Resource and Market Summit, which was held in Beijing earlier this year. Mongolian participants of the summit included Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi Ltd, MAK Mongol Gold, and MonEnko.
Coal Mongolia 2017, one of the largest platforms for promoting the Mongolian coal sector and improving export, trade, and transportation logistics, is being organized with support from Fenwei Energy Information Technology.
Fenwei runs SXCoal.com, the largest online distributor of information regarding Chinese coal prices and trade. While signing an agreement to be an organizing sponsor of Coal Mongolia 2017, the company released a statement which read, “We hope that Mongolian coal exports will rise as a re- sult of bilateral cooperation.”
Executive Director of Mongol Coal Association B.Altanshagai noted that while previous Coal Mongolia expos have successfully focused on attracting investors to the Mongolian coal sector, the new goal of the expo is to focus on improving coal export, trade, transportation logistics, and customs crossings. B.Altanshagai emphasized that due to rising coal prices and the stable trends experienced in 2017, Mongolia is again becoming an attractive destination for capital investment.
Board Chairman of Fenwei Energy Information Technology Chang Yijun noted that while Mongolia has a large amount of coking coal reserves and high production capacity, poor logistics and border customs regulations place Mongolian coal producers at a disadvantage by preventing them from operating at full capacity. He stated that Fenwei has access to a wide network of Chinese companies that deal in coal trade and transport logistics, and that they are happy to collaborate on Coal Mongolia 2017 to help see an increase in Mongolian coal prices and to create real market competition.
