Urban Development Minister reports on ger district re-planning projects
During Friday’s parliamentary session, at the request of MP D.Sumyabazar, Minister of Construction and Urban Development G.Munkhbayar reported on the status of ger district re-planning projects.
Minister G.Munkhbayar noted that 2010's Sukhbaatar District construction projects in khoroos 9, 10, and 11 were the first ger district re-planning efforts, and that new apartments for 4,829 residents were built from 2014 to 2016.
The Minister stated that a number of households relocated for ger district re-planning, but that some companies contracted to build on their land have not paid the households their agreed upon monthly landuse payments due until construction is complete. At present, 336 households have faced problems finding new housing.
He noted that these 336 families are temporarily living in state rental apartments by order of the Mayor until their problems have been resolved.
Minister G.Munkhbayar pointed out that his ministry is collaborating with Export-Import Bank of China to implement projects for ger district residents living near Mongolian National Broadcasting's radio and television studios.
The projects will connect residents to the central heating network as part of air pollution reduction efforts, and new apartments will be built for 2,559 residents in the third and fourth khoroolols.
