G.MEND-AMAR WINS ‘YOUR FACE SOUNDS FAMILIAR’ SEMI-FINALS
Edutainment TV of Mongolia is hosting the second season of the vastly popular vocal talent show “Yag Tuun Shig” (Your Face Sounds Familiar), which started on April 2.
On May 28, the semi-final of “Your Face Sounds Familiar” took place at Crocus Event Hall, and singer G.Mend-Amar from Camerton boy band won and qualified to compete in the final.
G.Mend-Amar transformed into singer of Germany industrial metal band Rammstein Till Lindermann, and sang their hit song “Du Hast”. The viewers of the show were astonished by G.Mend-Amar’s transformation, and the judges commended him for his uncanny impression of Till Lindermann.
A total of eight contestants, namely G.Mend-Amar from Camerton, young singer A.Khishigdalai, X Tuts Production actor T.Barkhuu, B.Ariuntsetseg from Emots Production, member of the South Korean band Montant S.Gantogoo, pianist S.Alimaa, singer B.Khaliun, and traveler and singer G.Gankhuu, are participating in the show.
The contestants are awarded points from the judges based on their singing and dance performances. After the judges vote, the con- testants have to give a set of points to a fellow contestant of their choice. The total score of each contestant is counted by summing the points from judges and contestants’ votes.
In the semi-final, two of the participants were eliminated from the show: singer A.Khishigdalai and actress B.Ariuntsetseg.
B.Ariuntsetseg transformed into Thomas Anders of Modern Talking and scored 216 points, and A.Khishigdalai, who transformed into Lauryn Hill of the Fugees, took 186 points.
Singer S.Gantogoo did a respectable impression of Michael Jackson; actor T.Barkhuu became Louis Armstrong, S.Alimaa impersonated South Korean rapper and singer PSY, and B.Khaliun into Nicole Scherzinger.
Six participants will compete in the final of the show, which will be held at the National Stadium.
“Your Face Sounds Familiar” is a talent show where celebrity contestants impersonate popular singers. The show challenges celebrities to perform as different iconic music artists every week. Each contestant is randomly assigned a famous singer for their transformation each episode. Vocal coaches, choreographers, make-up artists, and stylists prepare them for their big performance, and a panel of celebrity judges evaluates their performance each week.
