A.Amarsanaa becomes 1st non-Japanese high school yokozuna

Senior year student of Johoku Junior and Senior High School A.Amarsanaa of Mongolia has won first place at the All-Japan High School Sumo Championship, held in Tokyo, Japan on August 5 and 6.

In the final match, he defeated fellow Mongolian student S.Byambasuren, nephew of yokozuna Asashoryu D.Dagvadorj. This is the first time that a Mongolian student won this tournament.

A.Amarsanaa won the high school yokozuna (grand champion) title, becoming the first foreigner to gain the title.
