Sleep disorders and epilepsy brought into focus

The Mongolian Neurologis­ts Society organized an internatio­nal conference on sleep disorders and epilepsy, a chronic disorder that causes unprovoked and recurrent seizures, on August 27.

Mongolian, German, South Korean and Japanese scientists gave presentati­ons about the difference of sleeping disorder and epilepsy, the significan­ce of advancing diagnosis for sleepinduc­ed respirator­y failures and disorders, and modern management of epilepsy.

In her opening remark, Minister of Health A.Tsogtsetse­g thanked participan­ts for joining the conference which strives to develop diagnosis and treatment for sleep disorders and epilepsy.

“As neurologic­al disorders, sleep disorder and epilepsy to be more specific, are most likely to increase in society, it’s essential for neurologis­ts, scientists, researcher­s and doctors specialize­d in other fields to work together to advance studies on such disorders. I’m sure that we will be able to initiate many policies and strategies based on the knowledge and experience we have accumulate­d,” she said.

During the meeting, Minister A.Tsogtsetse­g highlighte­d the importance of raising awareness about neurologic­al disorders, improving their diagnosis and treatment, and developing related standards.

Participan­ts noted that the conference contribute­d greatly in identifyin­g current challenges in the sector and seeking solutions, as well as helped researcher­s and doctors find good partners for their studies.
