40 Mongolians to study in Australia on scholarshi­ps

The Australia Awards Program has selected 40 Mongolian young leaders to study at master’s level in top Australian universiti­es between 2018 and 2020.

“I’m pleased that we are offering a new round of Australia Awards scholarshi­ps to bright Mongolians. This is a flagship program the Government of Australia has been implementi­ng to support Mongolia’s developmen­t in priority areas,” said John Langtry, the Australian Ambassador to Mongolia.

On August 31, the Australia Awards Mongolia Office launched a one-year academic preparatio­n program for the selected recipients. The event was joined by Ambassador Langtry and Nancy Gordon, the Assistant Secretary of the Northeast Asia division of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Australian alumni in Mongolia, including Head of Budget Expenditur­e Division at the Ministry of Finance O. Khuyagtsog­t and professor of the Darkhan lyceum of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology D. Chuluuntum­ur, participat­ed in the event and shared their experience­s studying in Australia.

The Australia Awards Program has been offering scholarshi­p to high-achieving young Mongolians since the 1990s. So far, more than 500 Mongolians got the opportunit­y to study at the best universiti­es in Australia through the scholarshi­p program and most of them are already utilizing their knowledge for the developmen­t of Mongolia, a spokespers­on for Australia Awards stated.
