40 Mongolians to study in Australia on scholarships
The Australia Awards Program has selected 40 Mongolian young leaders to study at master’s level in top Australian universities between 2018 and 2020.
“I’m pleased that we are offering a new round of Australia Awards scholarships to bright Mongolians. This is a flagship program the Government of Australia has been implementing to support Mongolia’s development in priority areas,” said John Langtry, the Australian Ambassador to Mongolia.
On August 31, the Australia Awards Mongolia Office launched a one-year academic preparation program for the selected recipients. The event was joined by Ambassador Langtry and Nancy Gordon, the Assistant Secretary of the Northeast Asia division of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Australian alumni in Mongolia, including Head of Budget Expenditure Division at the Ministry of Finance O. Khuyagtsogt and professor of the Darkhan lyceum of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology D. Chuluuntumur, participated in the event and shared their experiences studying in Australia.
The Australia Awards Program has been offering scholarship to high-achieving young Mongolians since the 1990s. So far, more than 500 Mongolians got the opportunity to study at the best universities in Australia through the scholarship program and most of them are already utilizing their knowledge for the development of Mongolia, a spokesperson for Australia Awards stated.
