I WILL BE CALLED ’MONGOLIA’ NOT ENKHJIN AT MISS WORLD 2017, TS.ENKHJIN SAYS

- By B.TUNGALAG

Winner of Miss World Mongolia 2017 Ts.Enkhjin will represent Mongolia at the 67th edition of Miss World, which will kick off in October.

Ts.Enkhjin is a welleducated woman who studied interior design at the University of Cambridge’s School of Arts and Humanities in the UK and received a master’s degree from Florence Design Academy in Italy. After graduating, she established her own company Eden Design.

The following is an interview with Miss Mongolia Ts.Enkhjin.

Congratulations on winning Miss World Mongolia 2017. The final competition of Miss World 2017 will be held in Sanya, China on November 18. What are you planning to do until then?

I tried my best to win Miss World Mongolia 2017. All participants of Miss World 2017 have to be in Singapore by October 15. I already started preparing for Miss World 2017.

Miss World 2017 beauty pageant has five criteria. In which criteria are you giving high importance?

I am aiming to win the Beauty with the Purpose nomination. Seeing from previous beauty pageants, I will be able to qualify for the top five finalists if I win the Beauty with the Purpose nomination. Also there is a chance to advance to the top 5 if I win the Top Model category.

I am planning to participate with a good and real humanitarian work project in the Beauty with the Purpose.

I am also aiming to win the Miss Talent prize. Last year’s contestant of Mongolia A.Bayartsetseg staged calligraphy and magic trick performances. She won the Miss Talent award for her performance. I got advice from her. She said that there were so many talented contestants and that my performance will have to be very entertaining and attractive. That’s why I will give a significant attention to my art performance.

Your project for the Beauty with the Purpose category sounds interesting. Can you tell us more about your project?

My project is designed to address soil contamination in Mongolia. Mongolia faces soil contamination issues every spring. There were so many projects implemented for this issue, but none of them was effective. I will solve this issue more creatively using my profession (interior design).

The main factor for soil contamination is outhouses in the ger districts. I will change outhouses in the ger districts, and those of kindergartens and schools in the countryside into eco-friendly toilets in order to fight soil contamination.

Sixty percent of Ulaanbaatar’s population uses outhouses. Soil contamination is at a danger level in Mongolia.

I have already done the research for my project. My project will attract sponsors and donators if I succeed at Miss World 2017.

The public pays attention on contestants’ education, knowledge and language proficiency. Why do contestants need to be well educated in your opinion?

Every contestant represents their country on the world stage. I will be called “Mongolia” not Enkhjin on the stage of Miss World 2017. That’s why the organizers, judges and audiences of Miss World 2017 will get an understanding of the development and mindset of Mongolians through me.

More than two billion people watch Miss World. I don’t have a right to lose this chance, and I will attract international organization and tourists’ attention.

Mongolians give high importance to Miss World, and trust Mongolian contestants. How do you feel about this responsibility?

I think my intention to participate in Miss World 2017 is right. Soil contamination level will bring more risks. I thought: why couldn’t I change this situation by competing in Miss World 2017, because more people will notice this issue through the beauty pageant.

I will do my best. I won’t regret whatever happens. Thank you for trusting me.

Every contestant makes an official introduction video prior to Miss World. Have you found your video idea?

I have to express so many things through my video in very few minutes. That’s why it has to be very short, clear and heart touching.

Last year’s participant A.Bayartsetseg’s video was very good and a lot of people watched her video on YouTube.

I am planning to create my video from the bottom of heart in an interesting way.

You studied in the UK and Italy for six years. Why did you come to Mongolia so immediately? Did you have a chance to stay there and work?

I had a chance to work in a design company named Mineheart in the UK. I also had a chance to work as a teacher in my school in the UK. I decided I have to go back to my home country and show what I learned. I worked in Skinny Studio in Mongolia for a year. After that I established my own company Eden Design.
