UB officials review ongoing and new projects
The Ulaanbaatar City Council reviewed the execution of Ulaanbaatar Economic and Social Development Guidelines for 2017 and discussed next year’s guideline on November 15.
During the meeting, Mayor of Ulaanbaatar S.Batbold confidently stated that the city will be able to fulfill its development targets for 2017 based on the fact that 88.8 percent of projects and plans included in the Economic and Social Development Guidelines for 2017 had been completed by October 1.
As for next year’s guidelines, city council members decided to carry out policies for quick economic stabilization and higher economic growth while supporting small and medium enterprises, increasing jobs, intensifying construction and development projects, and carrying out landscaping projects. They agreed that financing from the state and city budgets, as well as local and foreign investment, is vital for dealing with the most pressing problems in the city such as housing, ger area re-development, air pollution and traffic. Mayor S.Batbold and his advisors made a decision to not only focus on these matters but also on speeding up state services, reducing and preventing crimes, and creating a business-friendly environment.
Over 400 projects and actions were included in the 2018 Economic and Social Development Guidelines and these projects will require a total of 1.3 trillion MNT, according to preliminary estimation. City officials decided to finance 90.9 billion MNT from the state budget, 114.8 billion MNT from Ulaanbaatar budget, 745.9 billion MNT from foreign sources, and raise 349.9 billion MNT from partner companies.
The guideline is divided into five sections, specifically Economic Growth for Each Family, Urban Development and Infrastructure, Environment and Green Development, Social Development, and Governance and State Services.
As mentioned at the meeting, the guideline was designed in conformity with the Ulaanbaatar General Plan through 2020, Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals through 2030, 2016-2020 Mongolian Government Action Plan, and other related documents.
