Police to improve assistance for the homeless
The police announced that they will cooperate with government and non-government organizations on measures to help homeless people return or find new homes, provide assistance in their social integration, and prevent them from getting involved in crimes.
As of November 15, there were 352 adults and 11 children recorded homeless within the premise of Ulaanbaatar, and 148 adults and 23 children outside of the city. After getting basic health examinations, 120 of them were taken to the Amidrakh Ukhaan Center and 11 children to the Special Education Institute for Children and Youth.
In an effort to carry out the government’s task related to homeless people, the General Police Department launched a General Action Plan for the Registration of Homeless People and Children, Inclusion in Health Examinations, and Cooperation with Government and Non- Government Organizations.
Within the scope of this plan, the police is working with provincial and district mayors’ offices, health departments, the Family, Child and Youth Development Center, and Amidrakh Ukhaan Center to find and register homeless people, provide them health examinations, help homeless children reunite with their family or guardian, assist in their social integration, admit them to public or private shelters, and provide legal assistance.
