GIFTS PRESENTED TO THE FIRST BABIES OF 2018
Mayor of Ulaanbaatar S.Batbold hurried to Urguu, Khuree and Amgalan Maternity Hospital on January 1 to welcome the first babies of the new year. A few hours after giving birth, the new mothers received a bundle of domestically-produced gifts that will assist their motherhood.
While meeting the newborn babies, Mayor S.Batbold said, “The birth of a new family member brings joy to the family and is valuable to the national development in the long run. I’m happy to be visiting three maternity hospitals in the capital today and personally handing out gifts and certificates to babies born just a few hours ago.
“I’m told that around 20 new babies have been born so far since the New Year’s countdown. Joy and happiness are radiating from all the mothers. I wish good fortune and good health to all of them and their babies. I’m also grateful to the national producers who cooperated with us on this initiative. We will organize this measure as a tradition every year from now on.”
Mayor S.Batbold was accompanied by Deputy Mayor Sh.Ankhmaa and some local producers who provided the gifts.
During the visit, director of Made in Mongolia NGO G.Maitsetseg expressed that she was eager to take part in the initiative to distribute gifts to babies born on the first day of 2018 when she first received the request.
“This measure is the exact definition of supporting national producers. We’re very happy to have been asked to produce the gifts,” she said.
The gift box includes a baby wrapping and a bag that contains all the necessities for a newborn and a mother which also turns into a wrapping when unfolded.
According to the Ulaanbaatar Mayor’s Office, the most number of babies, specifically 11 newborns, were born at Amgalan Maternity Hospital on Monday Morning. Reportedly, 28 women were waiting to deliver their baby from 9:00 a.m. on December 31, 2017 to 9:00 a.m. on January 1, 2018.
