Zorig’s murder case: Convicts’ families convinced of conspiracy
Families of the three convicted for the murder of S.Zorig held a press conference on February 23 to call attention to some inconsistencies in the case.
They strongly believe that the homicide was premeditated.
B.Sodnomdarjaa’s mother B.Javzmaa stated, “I’m a mother wanting her suffering son to be released from his false charges. A fake court hearing was concluded, saying that S.Zorig’s case has been closed. I’m sure the public knows the tragic play about the case. My son is wrongfully confined in prison because of accusations by the murderer, Kh.Amgalanbaatar. I want to remind the public that this is a made-up play requested by Ts.Elbegdorj, Khurts and General Prosecutors’ Office. Investigators and agents used various methods, drugged my son to tell lies and compiled them together to create evidence. They’re saying that they’ve solved a 14,000-page-long case. No document for S.Zorig’s case has been disclosed. On the contrary, they’ve made their issues confidential.”
Convict T.Chimgee’s older brother T.Khurelbat mentioned that Kh.Amgalanbaatar was sentenced to prison for life for homicide, meaning that his sentence can’t get worse. For this reason, Kh.Amgalanbaatar involved two innocent people in this case because it doesn’t matter to him, the brother claimed.
He said, “This person once rummaged through my sister’s home and stole three statues of deities. To take revenge on my sister for reporting it to the police, he involved her in this too. Deputy State General Prosecutor G.Erdenebat told the press that he has evidence and talked nonsense. There’s no evidence to show for what he said. They didn’t bring in Bulgan, S.Zorig’s spouse, as a witness and yet called in some unknown people who claimed to have been sitting outside the building (during the time of the murder).”
T.Khurelbat stated that based on facial composites by Bulgan, the man was shorter than the woman, but B.Sodnomdarjaa is taller than T.Khurelbat’s sister.
According to prosecutors, the three convicts were friends from the same birthplace. T.Khurelbat acknowledged that B.Sodnomdarjaa and T.Chimgee are from the same birthplace but rebutted that they have eight years of age difference and that they weren’t friends.
“I believe that as soon as B.Khurts became the head of the General Agency of Intelligence, he reopened this case on Ts.Elbegdorj’s orders, increased the sentence of Kh.Amgalan – an irreversible murderer – with a fabricated case, and falsely charged two innocent people. My sister got a sentence of 20 years in prison. This is wrong especially when there’s no proof,” T.Khurelbat said.
