Two basketball teams of Mongolia have competed in the new season of FIBA 3X3 Challenger, which took place in Goyang, South Korea between April 14 and 15.

While Ulaanbaata­r Garuda team placed fifth, Khovd team was listed ninth.

Khovd team was included in the top 12 teams of the 3x3 Challenger after winning Japanese Tokyo team 20-17 and Russian Moscow team 21-19.

In the quarterfin­als, Khovd won Serbian Belgrade team 16-17, but was defeated by Canadian Saskatoon team 21-10.

Mongolia's second team, Ulaanbaata­r Garuda, which is ranked 12th in the FIBA 3x3, played their first match against South Korean team and won 18-15, but in the next match, the team was defeated by Amsterdam's team 21-15. In the quarterfin­als, they competed against the USA's team and were defeated 2119 and placed fifth.

Canadian Saskatoon won the gold medal, which was their first-ever Challenger title. With this win, not only did Saskatoon get 10,000 USD, they also earned their ticket to the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Saskatoon Masters, where they finished second last season. This year’s FIBA 3x3 World Tour will be staged between July 21 and 22. Serbian Zemun took home 6,000 USD and a trip to Canada as well.

Mongolian basketball players will next compete at Nanjing Challenger, which will be held from April 21 to 22 in Nanjing, China.
