B.Bulgan charged for premeditating S.Zorig’s murder

- By B.DULGUUN

B.Bulgan, the spouse of late S.Zorig, was called in by the General Intelligence Agency on Wednesday.

On her way out of her home, B.Bulgan refused to comment but her lawyer Ts.Guyenbaatar said that she had confirmed her signature on a non-disclosure agreement she signed two years ago after giving a statement at the Investigation Division.

“The witness (B.Bulgan) cannot disclose any information because she signed a non-disclosure agreement while giving her statement two years ago. Nothing has changed since her first interrogation. Today, she confirm that the signature on the agreement is indeed hers. Get more information on this from the General Intelligence Agency,” he said.

On the following day, the Ulaanbaatar Prosecutor’s Office told the press that B.Bulgan didn’t go to the General Intelligence Agency to confirm her non-disclosure agreement but to be informed of her new criminal charges.

Prosecutor G.Byasman reported that new evidence indicate that B.Bulgan is the mastermind behind S.Zorig’s assassination and that the General Intelligence Agency asked her to come to the office to inform about the charges against her.

B.Bulgan is said to be the only witness present at the time of S.Zorig’s murder.

When asked if B.Bulgan will be arrested, G.Byasman stated, “I cannot disclose further information because the investigation is still ongoing.”

Currently, B.Sodnomdarjaa, T.Chimgee and Ts.Amgalanbaatar are serving their 23 to 24 years in prison for the murder of former Member of Parliament and then-acting Minister of Infrastructure Development S.Zorig in October 2, 1998. The General Intelligence Agency, prosecutors and police have been investigating the murder since and not long ago, the agency assigned a new task force to find the mastermind of the assassination.

The trials and court proceedings have been kept classified due to the sensitive nature of the case and as the investigation is still technically ongoing, according to state officials.
