5 candidates run for Supreme Court’s Criminal Chamber
In accordance to decree No. 15 and No. 16 of the Chairman of the General Council of Courts, two judges are to be appointed to the vacant seats of the Supreme Court’s Criminal Chamber.
The first five candidates have put forth their names and the fundamental revision tests have elapsed. Candidates B.Amarbaysgalan, S.Bud, Ts.Ichinkhorloo, S.SoyomboErdene, and G.Erdenebat gave the test last Monday and have passed the examination with scores above 60. The tests were given in accordance to the presidential decree for “Procedure for selecting a judge” where a candidate’s ability to work as a judge are tested.
As stated in Section 31.1 of the legal status of the judge, the candidates that passed the test will go through the Judicial General Council’s interview. Afterwards, the General Association of Lawyers form conclusions, and finally passes the judges on to the president for final approval. Teacher of the School of Law at the National University of Mongolia B.Amarbaysgalan, Chingeltei District’s Civil Primary Court Judge S.Bud, Judge of the Capital City Court of Appeal Civil Division Ts. Ichinkhorloo, Judge of the Capital City Court of Appeal Criminal Division M.Purevsuren, S.SoyomboErdene, and Deputy Chief of the State General Prosecutor G.Erdenebat ran for office, but G.Erdenebat withdrew his name.
S.Soyombo-Erdene ran for the position twice before.
Exams for Primary Court judges saw 53 candidates competing for office through their knowledge of the Constitution, drafting of legal documents and their abilities in the application of law.
