Cabinet reviews issues regarding orphanages, petroleum, pension and electricity
During its weekly meeting, Cabinet adopted a national program to develop the petroleum industry through 2027, which aims to increase the domestic workforce and its productivity and reduce foreign workforce in this industry.
The government believes that the program will increase investment in the national petroleum industry, which will have a positive impact on rural development.
During Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh’s visit to Unur Bul and Erdem orphanages on the occasion of International Children’s Day, heads of the orphanages asked the premier to address some challenges regarding social issues of children sheltered at the orphanages.
As the prime minister pledged to supply the required financing of 100 million MNT for roof renovation and social insurance debt repayment for Unur Bul orphanage, find financial resources for building a new child care center for children with intellectual disabilities under the orphanage, and transfer Erdem orphanage’s building from the Capital’s Property Authority’s ownership to the orphanage’s ownership under the law, Cabinet discussed the premier’s vows.
Cabinet members agreed to supply the required financing of 100 million MNT for Unur Bul from the Government Reserve Fund, and include required financing for new construction projects for the new child care center and Kindergarten No.10 for children with celebral palsy in the next year’s state budget, and the prime minister instructed some minister and the mayor of Ulaanbaatar to transfer ownership of Erdem orphanage’s building.
In response to the president’s recommendation to reform the nation’s pension system, Cabinet reviewed a draft of the president’s decree on pension reform and most ministers supported the president’s idea and several ministers put forward additional proposals for the pension reform to the President’s Office.
After Cabinet discussed project agreements and loans for implementing a project to improve the efficiency of electricity transmission and distribution network in the country’s central zone, they agreed to submit the projects to parliamentary standing committees for further reviews.
The government plans to upgrade some inadequate facilities of the electricity transmission and distribution network through a soft loan from Germany.
Cabinet agreed to put forward amendments to laws on mineral resources to Parliament.
The ministers also agreed to talk with some standing committees about establishing an agreement with Kazakhstan, which is to issue or nullify Mongolian citizenships of Kazakhstan citizens residing in Mongolia and Kazakhstan’s citizenship to Mongolian citizens residing in Kazakhstan through a facilitated regulatory process, and address illegal actions in terms of dual citizenship.
In response to a proposal from the Bulgan Province’s Government Office, Cabinet allowed the government office to host a Naadam festival to mark the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the province from July 27 to 29.
At the end of the meeting, Cabinet members agreed to submit amendments to the General Administrative Law to Parliament.
